Outdoor fun, Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap- 6/18/17

Another fun (and hot) weekend in Nashville! Saturday Luna and I met up with a good friend who was home for the weekend. We went to 51st dog park, which is already becoming one of our favorite spots! I wrote a whole post about the new spot and you can check that out here. Luna was the only dog at the park but she ran around and chased some tennis balls while my friend and I caught up.

After the dog park, we got ice cream at a super cute coffee shop in The Nations called Three Corners Coffee. I’ve driven by there many times but never stopped in until Saturday. They have delicious coffees, muffins, ice cream, and more! Luna got to eat her very own ice cream cone, which she REALLY liked. I think she ate the whole thing in 20 seconds!

Saturday night I went to a Nashville Sounds game with friends. It was my first game of the season and man was it fun! We sat in the lawn in the outfield where we could hang out yet still watch the game. We all agreed we needed to go to more this summer!

Sunday was a family-filled Father’s Day at our house. We were hoping to have some summer fun outside in the pool but it stormed most of the day. Luna really hates storms so she wore her Thunder Shirt most of the day, which helps her a lot. I struggle with how to comfort Luna when it’s storming because she paces around the house, shakes, and pants. The Thunder Shirt definitely calms her down enough to where she can sit with me and I can pet and hold her. I always feel so bad for her!

Anyway, we had a big family dinner for my dad and brother-in-law with presents, fried chicken, and peach cobbler. It was such a fun time celebrating dads in my family.

Have a great week!

51 Kitchen & Bar: Re-opening!

On Tuesday night, Luna and I went to the grand re-opening party for 51 Kitchen & Bar with some friends and we had so much fun! The restaurant was first opened as an Italian, small-plates style menu but now features delicious “American with Southern roots” options. The best part (for Luna at least) is that they have a dog park in front of the restaurant! How cool is that? Luna got to run around and meet new pups while I could enjoy a drink and catch up with friends. The dog park’s fence has drink holders scattered around to avoid spilling, which honestly I think is genius. There were plenty of water bowls and toys for all the dogs to enjoy as well.

When it was time for dinner, we sat on the patio where we listened to live music and had delicious cocktails (I highly recommend the Rosemary G&T!) For an appetizer, we shared the Southern Cornbread & Heaven, which came with 3 divine butters. Luna seemed to like the cornbread, too! For dinner I had the 51st Polenta, which was baked polenta cakes with tomato and mozzarella. It was so yummy!

The food was so good and the atmosphere was even better at 51. The staff is super friendly and I think it’s so fun that they have a dog park where the pups can enjoy a night out too. We will definitely be back! To learn more about 51 Kitchen & Bar, you can visit their website.

Outdoor fun, Upcoming events

Dog-friendly events: June 12-18

I’ve learned about 2 super fun events happening this week that I wanted to share!

First, on Tuesday, June 13th, 51st Kitchen & Bar is having a grand-reopening party that is fur baby-friendly! The restaurant is located in the Nations and has an awesome dog park. A dog park at a restaurant! How awesome is that?! Anyway, there will be food and drink specials and I’m sure there will be plenty of pups too! You can find them at 5104 Illinois Avenue and the event starts at 6:30pm. See you there!

Second, on Friday, June 16th-Saturday, June 17th, Franklin, TN is celebrating the 80+ businesses going pet-friendly in Historic Downtown Franklin. The party will be happening on Friday from 2pm-6pm and on Saturday from 10am-1pm. Luna and I are looking forward to it!
